The Origins of National Poultry Day
National Poultry Day got its start as just plain Poultry Day in 1951, in a small town festival in Versailles, Ohio. It was a quirky local annual fair that quickly grew from a one-day celebration to a two-day event as people flocked to enjoy local booths, performances, and of course, food. Today, the party continues nationwide, and in Versaille, OH, the regular population of less than 3,000 turns into a booming 52,000 for two days out of the year.
